Rock climbing is a sport originally an
integral part of mountaineering. It began as
a form of training for Alpine expeditions and
is now divided into three categories: the
outcrop climb for climbs of up to 30m
(100ft), the crag climb on cliffs of 30-300m
(100-1,000ft), and the big wall climb, which
is the nearest thing to Alpine climbing, but
without the hazards of snow and ice.
